Strengthening Syrian-Turkish Ties: New Agricultural and Economic Partnership Aimed at 2026
Signing of a Cooperation Protocol Between the Damascus Chamber of Agriculture and the Afyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry to Enhance Agricultural and Economic Cooperation

The Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Agriculture, represented by its Chairman, Mr. Mohammad Jannan, signed an economic and agricultural cooperation protocol with the Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, represented by its Chairman, Mr. Hüsnü Serteser, in the Republic of Turkey. The signing took place during an official visit by a delegation from the Chamber to the city of Afyon.
The delegation was headed by the Chairman of the Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Agriculture, Mr. Mohammad Jannan, and included Mr. Hassan Haliwa, Board Member and Chairman of the Central Nurseries Committee, and Mr. Bilal Barri, member of the Exhibitions Committee at the Chamber.
During the visit, the delegation held a series of meetings with officials from the Afyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry and several economic figures. Discussions focused on ways to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, particularly in the fields of agriculture and food industries, as well as exploring prospects for developing partnerships between producers and companies in both countries.
The visit program also included field tours and visits to various facilities and companies operating in the agricultural and food processing sectors in Afyon. These tours aimed to provide insights into the Turkish experience in agricultural production and food manufacturing, while discussing opportunities for cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The signed protocol aims to develop economic relations between institutions in both countries and enhance communication between companies and producers. Additionally, it facilitates the exchange of delegations and expertise in the agricultural sector, contributing to the growth of trade exchange and opening new horizons for economic cooperation.
Both parties also discussed expanding cooperation in organizing specialized economic events and exhibitions. Most notably, they discussed preparations for organizing the Turkish Food and Agricultural Products Exhibition in Damascus during 2026. This event is expected to enhance the presence of agricultural and food products and create new partnership opportunities between Syrian and Turkish companies.
This visit and the organization of economic meetings were initiated by the Yusuf Oglu Group for International Relations, Investment, and Exhibition Management, as part of efforts to build bridges of economic cooperation between institutions and economic activities in Syria and Turkey.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides emphasized the importance of this step in developing economic and agricultural relations and opening new avenues of cooperation to serve the interests of producers and economic stakeholders in both nations.
